The Humanities and Business faculty showcases a wide and diverse range of subjects. Humanities involves investigations of controversial and challenging issues and promotes critical and transformational thinking. By studying Humanities and Business, our students develop abilities to independently research, gather and interpret data, present arguments and reason as well as communicate in effective and meaningful ways. Our faculty boasts a team of expert and exemplary teachers in which the curriculum architecture enables innovative and academic resilience. Our students also develop an appreciation of different perspectives, values and intercultural understandings to become actively global citizens. Analytical and critical thinking is central to the learning process in Humanities and Business, ensuring academic success. Having studied a Humanities or Business subject helps students perform well in exams such as the Year 12 the Queensland Core Skills Test (QCS), particularly the ‘Writing Task’ and 'Short Response’ papers.
Junior Secondary
All students participate in the Australian Curriculum: History and Geography at their year level from Year 7 to Year 9. An overview of the curriculum, including topics and suggested assessment tasks is available in the Junior Secondary Handbook.
Senior Secondary
In Year 10, all students study History (Semester 1), Geography (Semester 2), Business Studies (Elective) and Year 10 Honours - Philosophy and Reason (Accelerated Course).
