Our Student Leadership Program lays the foundations for the emergence and development of leadership qualities in students.
Our Student Leadership program (SLP) is an award winning school wide program that culminates in students obtaining their Certificate II in Active Volunteering in year 12. It lays the foundation for the emergence and development of leadership qualities.
The program aims to:
- Provide opportunities for well balanced holistic learning through an enterprise education approach
- Develop the leadership capability of students so that they can be recognised as community leaders
- Develop a culture of active citizenship to provide high calibre leaders for the future
- Develop the school’s global perspective, enabling students to be independent, resilient world citizens.
The program begins in year 8 with students volunteering around the school. This is followed up in year 9 when students complete volunteering projects which are developed within their SLP class groups. These activities prepare students for 30 hours volunteering in the community in order to meet the requirements of the vocational qualification Certificate II in Active Volunteering which they work towards in their senior years.
This program takes place outside of timetabled curriculum time, on most occasions, in various forms e.g. Leaders Up Late and High Resolves Program and Camps.
