Students in the Humanities and Business classroomThe Humanities faculty at our school offers a wide range of engaging subjects that challenge students to think critically and draw reasoned conclusions. Humanities subjects encourage students to explore complex and often controversial issues, developing essential skills like gathering evidence, analysing information, and forming well-supported arguments. These skills build students' confidence in research, reasoning, and effective communication.

In the middle years (Years 7 to 9), students follow the Australian Curriculum for Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), covering foundational areas in History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business. This program prepares students for the senior subjects by developing skills in critical thinking, understanding different perspectives, and interpreting information.

In the senior years (Years 10 to 12), students can choose from a diverse array of specialised Humanities subjects, including Ancient History, Economics, Geography, Legal Studies, Modern History, Philosophy and Reason, and Social and Community Studies. Each subject offers students a unique way to understand the world, deepen their analytical skills, and make meaningful connections between past and present. Details of the prerequisites, topics and likely assessment can be found in the Senior Subject Selection Handbook.pdf.

Our faculty is made up of passionate, subject-expert teachers who bring depth and enthusiasm to their teaching, inspiring students to engage deeply with the material and think independently. Studying Humanities not only helps students excel in exams but also equips them with skills for life, encouraging them to become thoughtful, active global citizens.
